Studies on Pieridae Fauna and Morphology in Gaziantep Province, Türkiye

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the Pieridae species distributed in Gaziantep province between 2023-2024. Sweep trap sweeping method was used in the study. As a result of the research, 282 Pieridae adult samples were collected from the region. The samples were taken into killing bottles with ethyl acetate and after the killing process was completed, they were taken into jars and brought to the entomology laboratory. In order to be identified, it was adapted to standard museum methods and transferred to insect cabinets in the Entomology Laboratory of the Department of Biology of Gaziantep University. As a result of the identification procedures, 11 Pieridae species were identified. Additionally, the wingspan, abdominal width and height measurements of the captured specimens were included in the study.
